Back to the heritage dates to 1950, Hok Kee developed and grew the family-run business over the next few decades. It’s specialties of stewed beef and trip, shrimp wontons and salted chicken congee have been winning over legions of fans. It’s signature Braised Beef Brisket Noodles (五香牛腩面)is the culmination of 60 years of constant experimentation and improvement; the thick gravy is brewed from a complex mixture of 10 spices, including cinnamon, cloves, pepper and star anise. Another popular item is the Hong Kong-style Wonton Noodles (鲜虾云吞面), where the highlights are the bite-sized parcels of fresh shrimp, lean pork, lard, and a “secret ingredient” – flatfish.
